I keep on getting "Error 691. The Computer you are dialing cannot establish a Dialup Networking connection. Please check your password and try again". What could be the problem? There are a couple of things that you will want to check: 1) Make sure that you have the CAPS lock key on your keyboard turned off. This is a common occurrence that causes the password to be sent in all capital case letters. The password is case sensitive so unless the password was originally entered in capital case, that will cause it not to work. 2) You are using an access number that ends in @POP3.net, @world.net, @usa, or @nni.com and do not have the username formatted correctly. If you have one of these access numbers, your username MUST be entered with "nni" in front of your username, and then the @suffix behind your username. For example, if your username was just simply "username" and you were dialing into a number that requires the @usa suffix, you would need to enter it as "nniusername@usa". The "nni" prefix must be entered at the NuNet end as well in your account, so contact Technical Support if your username does not have "nni" in it. 3) There is somebody else already logged into your account. A customer with a standard dialup account is only setup to connect with one computer at one time. Therefore, if a computer is logged on with your username and password at another location, you will not be able to log on from a second one until the original person logs off of your account. The error would come up on your screen as an "Error 691" if this was the case. 4) Your account has been suspended or cancelled. |
